RANGOON - A record crowd of more than 10,000 people braved threats of arrest by Burma's military junta to turn out for a meeting yesterday outside the home of opposition leader, Ms Aung San Suu Kyi.

The crowd chanted "long jive Aung San Suu Kyi" and "democracy will prevail". The junta has recently launched a stream of diatribes against the opposition.
