Rock - Bank holiday festival wrap

It kind of sneaks up on us, this bank holiday weekend

It kind of sneaks up on us, this bank holiday weekend. Just when you thought all the open-air, intimate, boutique-like events had gone into hibernation, here comes a weekend’s worth to persuade you out of your gaffs and into various parts of the country.

In Co Cork we have two biggies: Indiependence Music Arts festival (Mitchelstown) and Liss Ard (Skibbereen); in Co Offaly, there’s Castlepalooza (Tullamore). In Co Meath, meanwhile, we have easily one of the best of the bunch – Le Cheile (Oldcastle), which is the sort of intimate but perfectly formed event (in a really lovely rural, heritage small town) that manages to have a broad reach yet remain focused and self-contained.

The many acts performing across the weekend include Bressie, The Walls, Republic of Loose, Paddy Casey, and The 4 of Us. Too much to do, too little time to do it in? Bring it on, we say.
