Sonic the Hedgehog is back, and the good news is that he’s stayed true to his 2D roots. Fans of the original Sega game will love this updated version. Once again the speedy blue spiky one faces the seemingly indestructible Dr Eggman (aka Dr Robotnik), who is backed up by some upgraded badniks. Their goal is simple: destroy Sonic. As usual, you have a host of moves at your disposal, from the tried-and-tested Spin Dash to a Homing Attack. With the latter you defend yourself, collect the rings, chase the evil doctor through colourful worlds and ultimately defeat him. The Chaos Emeralds and their mazes also make an appearance. The controls can be a little hard to master at times, but the overall gameplay is close enough to the original 2D side scrollers to keep fans happy. A great return for a classic.
