Blow photo turns the lens inwards

The latest issue of the fine art photography magazine Blow focuses on self portraits. Here’s a selection of its stunning images

Birthe Piontek was born in 1976 in Germany, and is currently based in Vancouver, Canada. “Lying Still uses self-portraiture to look inwards, observing oneself, examining notions of mortality, sexuality, intimacy roles and relationships and how they are constantly changing. captured in the familiar surroundings of a domestic space. They expose the urges, fears and desires that exist in our subconscious and reveal themselves when we are at out most vulnerable, in our homes carrying on with our daily lives.”

Blow Photo Issues is Ireland’s only large-format publication dedicated to photography. Each issue follows a different theme and acts as a hand held exhibition for some of the best photographers around the world. Blow was nominated for Best Magazine at the Lucie awards for three years running from 2013 to 2015.

Issue 14 will be launched on Saturday, April 16th at Homebeat's Cafe Thirty Four in Dublin from 1pm with live music from Kobina. blowphoto.com
