THE US trade representative, Mr Mickey Kantor, yesterday announced the establishment of a special office devoted exclusively to monitoring US foreign trade agreements. Among countries to be targeted by the new unit, he cited Japan, China, Mexico and Canada. Mr Kantor also mentioned Europe. He said the unit would also implement US trade laws to ensure that foreign governments adhered to US legislation against selling subsidised goods and goods at unfairly low prices.
