UK inflation drops to 2.1%

BRITISH inflation fell back to 2.1 per cent last month after a blip which saw it rise to 2.2 per cent in July.

BRITISH inflation fell back to 2.1 per cent last month after a blip which saw it rise to 2.2 per cent in July.

The fall, prompted mainly by smaller rises in the cost of seasonal foods than last summer, took the rate back to June's level. Underlying inflation, which excludes changing mortgage interest rates, was stuck at 2.8 per cent in August for the fourth month running.
