Ireland is associated with fine food and drink, according to a survey by An Bord Bia of 160 foreign journalists who were covering the opening stages of the Tour de France. Of the respondents, 134, or 84 per cent, associated the country with gastronomic delights while 112, or 70 per cent, said they would consider recommending Irish food to other people.

"The promotion of Irish food and drink through the Tour de France in Ireland has successfully increased awareness of Ireland as a source of good food and drink," An Bord Bia said.
