TESCO'S British customers will be able to buy Dublin-made Lir chocolates from this week, after the supermarket signed a £250,000 contract with the manufacturer yesterday. Lir said it had won the contract despite competition from Swiss chocolate makers and it expected to hire 20 new employees - bringing the workforce to 74.

A Tesco spokesman said: "We are confident our customers will respond very positively to Lir."
