For the first time, Tesco is selling its own brand generic uniforms, which come in grey and navy. There are 16 stores in Ireland with four in the Dublin area. Recently, the store distributed discount coupons to homes offering £2 off when £10 or more is spent.

Girls: pinafore, £8; two-pack blouses, £6 to £8; jumpers, £6 to £8; knife-pleat skirt, £8; two-pack tights, £6. Pinafores and jumpers are not available in all stores.

Boys: two-pack shirts, £6 to £8; trousers, £7 to £11; jumpers, £6 to £8; three-pack socks, £4.

Gym: unisex jog pants, £6 to £8; crew-neck sweat shirts, £6 to £8.
