Technology firm Kelsius has secured €1 million in funding to launch its new food safety product.

The company, which has operations in Belfast and Donegal, raised the funding from former Superquinn owners, existing investors Enterprise Equity Northern Ireland and the Western Development Commission, and angel investor Art McGann.

FoodCheck combines wireless sensor technology that measures and monitors food temperatures and a tablet-based application that allows users to record hygiene-related tasks and other management issues.

Superquinn’s former deputy chairman, Eamonn Quinn, will join the Kelsius board as non-executive chairman.
