Trains linking Switzerland's biggest cities will have mobile phone-free zones after a flood of customer complaints about people making calls from carriages, the state railroad agency SBB has announced.

SBB said travellers feel "disturbed by mobile phones", but it would not introduce a total ban because the use of mobile phones was "an obvious customer need".

Mobile phones will be banned in one first-class and one second-class carriage on all express trains connecting Zurich, Basle and Geneva from September 27th.
