Sweden has launched an ambitious drive to wire every home and business in the country with high-speed broadband Internet access, an unprecedented project it sees as vital to its future.

Sweden, already a world leader in development and consumer use of Internet technologies, offers broadband access mainly in urban areas in the south of the country through a variety of means, notably via cable television lines.
