THE Sligo Chamber of Commerce has organised a two week shopping spree in the town in an effort to persuade more people to support local businesses. More than 100 shops are taking part in the shopping showcase offering special bargains and promotions for shoppers. The chamber hopes the fortnight will encourage shoppers to shop in the town instead of travelling to Dublin or Galway, particularly in the run up to Christmas. The shopping spree ends on November 2nd.
