MR Des Large, a director of the motor parts and industrial bearings group Edmunds Walker has been appointed president of the Society of the Irish Motor Industry. On taking up his appointment yesterday, Mr Large immediately criticised the Government, accusing it of "dragging its feet" on the introduction compulsory car testing. The introduction of tests would create 1,000 jobs and prevent the dumping of unsafe vehicles in Ireland, said Mr Large.
