FORTE's most important hotel property in Ireland is the Shelbourne Hotel in central Dublin, although the group also owns the Forte Crest Hotel in Dublin Airport as well as some mid market hotels.

In an interview with The Irish Times shortly after the hostile takeover bid for Forte was launched last November, Donegal born Granada chief executive Gerry Robinson said emphatically that the Shelbourne would not be for sale if Granada was successful. Industry sources believe that the other Forte hotels are unlikely to be sold either.

Granada already has extensive interests in Ireland, including Budget Travel one of the biggest holiday groups in the country. Granada also owns the workplace hygiene company Springrove, Sutcliffe Catering and Granada Computer Services.
