The Educational Building Society (EBS) says it has received a number of expressions from parties interested in making a bid for the institution before yesterday’s deadline for indicative offers.

Irish Life Permanent and a private equity group led by Cardinal Asset Management and backed by US firm JC Flowers are understood to be among the parties to have expressed an interest in making an investment in the Government-controlled lender.
