RUSSIA is the most risky place in which to do business, according to a report published today.

The country fought off stiff competition from Venezuela and Mexico to top a league table of risky markets among emerging economies.

The survey, conducted by corporate intelligence and research consultancy Merchant International Group, included firms' experiences of bureaucratic delay and corruption as well as the usual measures of commercial risk.
