THE value of retail sales fell by 0.9 per cent in February to give a year on year rise of 5.8 per cent, according to provisional figures released yesterday by the Central Statistics Office. The February outcome compares with revised January figures of a 2 per cent rise in the value of sales for the month and a year on year increase of 7.4 per cent. The figures reinforce the view that there are no inflationary pressures in the economy.
