FERGUS HOBAN, who runs Touchstone Healthcare in Cork, will give the keynote speech at the Western Conference on medical economics in San Diego this month. It is organised by Blue Cross Blue Shield, the world’s largest healthcare insurer.

Hoban will be in good company. He will be joined by Democrat strategist James Carvill and and his wife, Mary Matalin, a Republican.

Dublin-based TV station City Channel has appointed George Maloney of Baker Tilly as its liquidator. This follows a recent decision by founder David Harvey and major investor Liberty Global International to close the channel.

Accounts just filed for City Channel Ltd show it made a loss of €555,471 in 2009. This brought its accumulated losses to €2.1 million. At the end of 2009, Harvey was owed €199,254 by

the company while Liberty Global was owed €330,000.

The beauty business owned by Celia Larkin (left), who formerly stepped out with former Taoiseach Bertie Ahern, had a tough year in 2010.

Accounts just filed for Beauty at Blue Door Ltd indicated that it made a loss of just under €11,500 last year.

Its accumulated losses stood at €76,509 at December 31st last.
