The number of Laser card transactions carried out reached an all-time high of 25 million, representing more than £1 billion (€1.27 billion) in retail sales, last year, according to new figures.

The number of retail outlets accepting Laser has also increased to 20,000, while the number of card-holders has risen to more than 700,000 since it was launched in April 1996.
