THE consortium which has won the national radio licence includes Riverdance producers, Ms Moya Doherty and her husband Mr John McColgan, as well as financier Mr Dermot Desmond, the Cork Examiner and Irish Farmers Journal.

The winning Radio Ireland consortium said last night it would meet its deadline to be on air by November.

The new station, which will fill the gap for an independent national radio station left by Century Radio, will be aiming primarily at the over 25 age group.

Its board also includes Mr Gary Joyce, a partner in Genesis, a business and investment consultancy company, and Mr Patrick Kevans, a commercial lawyer and a senior partner in Dillon Eustace.
