Mr Justice Quirke has been appointed chairman of the newly established public service benchmarking body, which will examine public sector pay as it compares to the private sector. The body, the establishment of which was agreed under the terms of the Programme for Prosperity and Fairness, has been asked to report by June 30th, 2002.
