Consumers must have more protection when using e-commerce says Ms Caroline Jackson, chairman of the European Parliament's committee on the environment, public health and consumer policy.

"As e-commerce develops, I think we will see many, many more consumers buying shares, life assurance and taking out mortgages etc across frontiers, with very little perceived consumer protection behind them," she told Consumer Voice, magazine of the European Commission's health and consumer protection unit.
