Computer Associates, the software giant which employs 40 people in Ireland, has reported a 33 per cent increase in third quarter revenue to $1.81 billion (€1.85 billion). For the same period net profits rose 20 per cent to $424.8 million, from $354.6 million. Earnings per share increased 28 per cent to 91 cents, compared to 71 cents a year ago.

For the nine months to the end of December, net profits rose 15 per cent to $972.8 million excluding a $646 million research and development charge following the acquisition of Platinum Technology last June.
