GERMAN telecommunications giant Deutsche Telekom AG said yesterday it expected profits to double this year and that it would expand co-operation between its T-Online service and Microsoft Corporation.

Its chairman, Mr Ron Sommer, said that profit at its parent company rose 23 per cent in 1996 to 1.6 billion deutschmarks (£601 million), assuring payment of a 60 pfennig dividend.
