Employment by private firms in the construction industry has risen by 8.9 per cent between October 1996 and the same period this year, according to figures released by the Central Statistics Office.
The CSO sample survey shows that the monthly index of employment has increased from 94.6 in October 1995 to 112.7 in October 1997.
