The boom in Dublin house prices continued yesterday when a businessman paid £855,000 at an auction for a large detached house, Blencarn, at Kerrymount Avenue, Foxrock, Dublin 18. It is believed to have been the highest price paid at auction for a Foxrock house.

Lisney had been quoting a guideline price of £600,000 for the turn of the century house which was originally owned by the Bewley family. It stands on three quarters of an acre and has four reception rooms and five bedrooms.

Lisney also secured £535,000 at auction yesterday for a modern five bedroom house, The Gables, on Oaklands Drive, Rathgar, Dublin 6.
