The pound has risen to just above 85p against sterling, as currency traders await UK inflation and unemployment data

The pound has risen to just above 85p against sterling, as currency traders await UK inflation and unemployment data. The pound closed at 85.06p yesterday from 84.79p on Friday.

Mr Jim Power, chief economist at Bank of Ireland, said currency traders are looking ahead to inflation data due out today and unemployment statistics tomorrow.
