WHILE wondering whether Irish pilots are going to ground flights from Sunday, spare a thought for their British counterparts. British Airways pilots, who themselves came close to taking strike action recently, are now the target of an extensive cost-cutting campaign.

The campaign is aimed at realising £1 billion in savings in the next three years and includes 5,000 job losses over that period. Pilots will be singled out.
