PAPER and packaging group David S. Smith reported record annual figures but predicted turbulent times were not fully over.

Pre-tax profits in the year to April 27th raced ahead to £124.6 million sterling from £99.7 million in the previous 12 months.

The chairman, Mr Alan Clements, said. "We are very pleased to have produced record results in such a demanding and turbulent trading environment."
