There may be some compulsory redundancies at the Crown Berger paint manufacturing plant in Coolock, Co Dublin, after the company's parent Akzo Nobel decided to close it.

According to Crown Berger Ireland: "The decision has been taken to protect the majority of jobs at the company where 140 people are employed".

About 35 people are employed in manufacturing and, according to Mr Sean Browne, marketing manager: "We will offer voluntary redundancy and seek to deploy others, but there may be some compulsory redundancies."
