Computer hardware manufacturer and distributor Pacific Technology Group revealed yesterday that it has bought plastics firm PRP.

Neither side revealed the purchase price, but The Irish Times understands that it was in the region of €1 million.

PRP, which supplies the electronics industry with plastic packaging products, employs 12 people and sales are running at €2 million a year.

Pacific has 40 employees and before the purchase was on course to turn over €10 million in 2005.

Its founder, Ger Scriven, said yesterday that it has achieved double-digit growth every year since it began trading in 1999. He said the acquisition of PRP would increase Pacific's manufacturing capabilities and involvement in electronics.

Both companies are based in Cork.
