BARCLAYS and Norwich Union have signed a deal which means the insurer becomes the bank's preferred supplier of general insurance products for a further 5 1/2 years, it was announced yesterday. The two companies have signed an agreement to extend the partnership they established in March last year.

Barclays Insurance Services said the deal marked a further step forward in the development of its general insurance business.
