EAGLE Star has cut assurance rates for male non smokers following a review of mortality trends. The company said yesterday it will offer new customers lower term assurance rates, while some existing policyholders will see lower than expected premium increases. And if the current trend in mortality continues, it said some policyholders could expect a reduction in premiums over the next five years. This is the first time Eagle Star has cut its life assurance rates.
