THE volume of advertising in newspapers for the first week of April this year was up 12 per cent on the same period last year, according to Advertising Statistics Ireland.

Advertising Statistics Ireland has been re introduced to provide a print media service to the advertising industry.

The company was badly affected by the decision of the Institute of Advertising Practitioners to establish its own statistical service. However, its services are again on offer, presenting monthly reports as well as daily and weekly national press reports.

It will also offer national, regional and consumer press reports by advertiser, brand, category and title.

Print media accounts for 65 per cent of all advertising spend, accounting to about £190 million a year.
