New York TimesCo said second-quarter profit rose after it cut jobs and wages at its namesake newspaper and the Boston Globe to cope with an ad slump. Net income rose 85 per cent to $39.1 million, or 27 cents a share, from $21.1 million. Chief executive Janet Robinson said the rate of decline in ad sales may moderate slightly this quarter. - (Bloomberg)
