Investors in Fitzwilton who are considering the offer of 50p a share from Dr Tony O'Reilly and his associates have been made a "full and fair offer", according to NCB Stockbrokers. In a note this week, the brokers contend shareholders should count themselves fortunate that Dr O'Reilly and his associates have provided such a clean exit opportunity.

Despite this upbeat assessment, other analysts are less than impressed by the sum on offer. Fitzwilton shareholders are, however, likely to accept what's now on the table to end their long suffering.
