International ratings agency Moody's has given Bank of Ireland a vote of confidence, by upgrading the bank's rating from "stable" to "positive". According to Moody's, the upgrade "reflects the continuing positive trend in the bank's underlying fundamentals, particularly in its domestic operations".

The agency added that future changes in Bank of Ireland's rating would depend on the success of the bank's diversification strategy in Britain, together with a continuing trend in the domestic operations.
