Minister for Transport Leo Varadkar has appointed James Frater to the board of the Dublin Port Company.

Mr Frater, who is based in Wexford, has 38 years of experience of the terminal ports sector. He was formerly chief executive of the Alexandria container terminal in Egypt.

The Scot has also held senior positions at ports in Southampton, Great Yarmouth, Hong Kong and Oman. Dublin Port is the country’s largest such facility, handling roughly half of the State’s trade.
