MERRILL Lynch & Co, the biggest stockbroker in the US, will get more than $27 million (£18 million) in tax breaks in exchange for its pledge to stay in New York City and add up to 2,000 jobs under a deal announced yesterday.

Merrill Lynch has a banking operation in Dublin's International Financial Services Centre.
