Mega-Mergers between large scale commercial banks are a serious waste of resources, according to Prof Anthony Hourihan of the Smurfit Business School at UCD.

In a talk delivered at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, he said such mergers were a waste of financial and even scarcer managerial resources and distracted the "banking behemoths" which resulted from implementing effective customer relationship management.
