The High Court has appointed an examiner to well-known postcard company John Hinde after accepting it had a reasonable prospect of survival despite suffering severe difficulties due to the recession and other factors.

While agreeing to appoint an examiner, Mr Justice Peter Kelly was critical that the company had incurred debts of some €120,000 to the Revenue through not paying employee PRSI.

The company was set up in 1956 by English photographer John Hinde and his wife.
