The value of the Irish stock market rose above £17 billion for the first time, with continued strong demand for industrial stocks in particular.

The main industrial stocks such as CRH remained well bid, but yesterday's heavy trading also saw strong gains for second line industrials such as Independent, James Crean, Kerry, Avonmore and Waterford Foods. Page 19.
