THE stock market ended its busiest week ever with double digit losses yesterday, dogged by renewed weakness in technology shares.

The Dow Jones industrial average closed 37.36 points lower at 5,426.82. The technology laden Nasdaq Composite index was down 12.14 points at 1,097.68.

In the broader market declining issues beat advances 13-9 on active volume of 403 million shares on the New York Stock Exchange.

For the week, NYSE volume totalled 2.49 billion shares, topping the previous weekly volume record of 2.30 billion set during the week of October 19-23, 1987, when the market crashed.
