German equities ended electronic trade on the IBIS DAX index over half a percentage point lower, yet again following the US's lead, after Wall Street opened sharply lower. Earlier, the DAX index of 30 German blue chips, following Wall Street, ended floor trade down 16.23 points at 2543.83 Points.

Paris CAC-40: 197.61 (-6.95)

French shares ended weaker on Friday amid continued bearish sentiment over the French budget and labour outlook and expected poor corporate results.

Milan MIBTEL: 9511 (-89)

Italian shares closed mostly lower, dragged down by the weakness of the US market.
