German shares ended a quiet bourse session yesterday slightly higher, posting small gains despite very thin trading volumes, traders said. The 30 share DAX index ended up 2.03 points at 2,548.36, while the IBIS DAX was up 12.31 points at 2,555.06 in post bourse dealings. The equity market found support from a higher debt market.

Italian shares ended firmer yesterday in light holiday trading helped by gains in domestic bonds and the lira, while operators watched London's FTSE 100 index hit a new record high and Wall Street's positive note.
