The German share market, which had languished for most of the day, surged in late dealings after softer than expected US producer price data spurred the dollar, debt and US equity markets. The IBIS DAX index, which measures electronic trade in 30 blue chip stocks, ended the day 28.45 points higher at 2499.02.

Paris CAC 40 2114.80 (+29.39)

The Paris bourse was marked by a hesitant start to the session, but rose sharply in the afternoon after the release the US wholesale price figures.

Milan Mibtel 10543 (+55)

Milan shares ended higher, taking their cue from the firmer opening on Wall Street, and also supported by a stronger domestic bond market.
