The German share market closed sharply down as bund prices plunged after a stronger than expected rise in US non farm payrolls, though traders said the bourse should regain its footing next week. The IBIS Dax index saw a knee jerk reaction to the debt market's woes, but recovered to close the day down 30.58 points at 2448.80 points.

Paris CAC-40: 1975.46 (-32.57)

The Paris market closed sharply lower but above the day's lows after the unexpectedly robust US employment reports.

Milan Mibtel: 9568 (-168)

Milan shares slumped to end sharply lower following a sell off in world bonds and stocks.
