Shares ended broadly unchanged after failing to beat resistance and rise above the 5,900 point level earlier in the day. The all-day Xetra DAX ended 16.23 points or 0.28 per cent lower, having hit an all-time high of 5,899.73 earlier in the session. Paris CAC-40: 4,215.70 (+11.89)French shares closed marginally higher after a directionless session with the index still near record levels in average volume. Dealers said the market remained worried about pressure on the yen and general anxiety on Asia. Milan Mibtel: 22,656 (-266)Italian shares closed lower as investors decided to take profits after Thursday's gains when they saw Wall Street open little changed.
