In Germany, shares fell in light trading, as the sluggish dollar dragged German export stocks lower.As expected, the Bundesbank left interest rates unchanged at its regular monetary policy meeting. German software manufacturer

Paris CAC-40: 3861.58 (+15.64)

French shares finished higher on Friday, helped by a rise in the dollar and gains on Wall Street. The blue chip CAC-40 closed up 0.41 per cent, but was down 0.84 per cent on the week.

Milan Mibtel: 25,300 (+122)

Italian stocks closed near the day's highs, lifted by a rally in Fiat and in banking stocks, as well as by a positive tone on Wall Street. "Fiat's rally and further gains by Banca di Roma triggered some `buy' orders," said a dealer.
